PASSIONATE AND DEDICATED

Who we are

At Life in Mérida™, Angel and I are driven by a singular mission: We believe living in Mérida is a privilege that comes with responsibility. We educate people who want more than a beautiful city; they want to be a part of it.

We bridge the gap between the dream of moving to Mérida and the complex reality of making it happen. We share the unwritten rules and hidden nuances of Mérida, giving you clear answers to the critical questions you didn’t know to ask.

Why we do what we do

Life in Mérida™ was built for curious people considering moving to Mérida part-time or full-time, those who currently live here or may want to live here in the future. We’ve curated the best of the best resources, answers to frequently asked questions, and shared my perspective as a foreign resident and Angel’s local insider knowledge. This isn’t something you’ll find in many places.

I’ll tell you a little but HUGE secret: insider knowledge means 100% familiarity with the customs, nuances, daily life, aggravations, annoyances, frustrations, great things, magic, gratitude, etc. that comes with living in Mérida for years and years.

Yucatan is its own beast, its own country, its own dynamic. Nowhere else in Mexico is like Yucatan. Unless someone has lived here for several decades, they simply don’t understand it.

While Mérida remains the safest city in Mexico, not many mention it is also one of the most complex. Between the high temps and humidity, constantly changing rules and regulations, and the rapid expansion of the North, you don’t need more information you need filtered information.

The Insider Difference

  • People shopping in the rain with umbrellas at Mercado Los Arcos in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico

The difference between walking distance and walkability.

Two completely separate things that can be found ALL over the city, not just in Centro. We help you define the two so you can understand what works best for you.

  • Blue swimming pool with vegetation and palm trees with white stucco 2-story house with red tile roof in the background

Romanticizing and reality can be worlds apart.

Creating a story around pretty pictures may be a far cry from reality. Don’t worry, everyone does it. We show you how to keep it real with boots-on-the-ground.

  • People sitting at cafe tables in the white arched courtyard of Casa T'HŌ Concept House on Paseo de Montejo in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico

The importance of the do’s and don’ts.

We don’t want you to come out of the gate being viewed as rude or aggressive by locals. We get in the groove to become familiar with everything you need to know and do from the very beginning.

  • Pink stucco Mexican-style house with large palm tree in the backgound in a neighborhood in North Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico

Providing insider tips for things you may not event be aware of.

What nobody told you because you didn’t know what to ask. Clarification on confusing and sometimes controversial topics. We’ll tell you the honest truth from the start.
