ABOUT LIFE IN MÉRIDA
Two Perspectives. One Mérida.
Life in Mérida™ grew from two very different experiences of the same city.
Amy came to Mérida after 30 years in Dallas—first as a visitor doing her own research, and three months later as a resident learning firsthand what it takes to build a life in another country.
Ángel has called Mérida home since 1993. His perspective comes from decades of living here, along with a deep connection to the culture, history, food, neighborhoods, and everyday rhythms of Yucatán.
Together, we bring both perspectives to everything we do: the experience of moving to Mérida and the experience of truly knowing Mérida.

CO-FOUNDER • LIFE IN MÉRIDA™
After 30 years in Dallas, I came to Mérida on a research trip in 2019. Three months later, I moved.
I’m still finding something new to love about Mérida every day—but I’m also the first to say it isn’t for everyone. Moving to another country requires more than loving the food, architecture, or weather. Everyday life is different here, and learning to navigate those differences is part of the experience.
Before starting Life in Mérida™, I spent decades in real estate and relocation. Today, I use that experience—and everything I’ve learned from making the move myself—to help others research Mérida, ask better questions, and make decisions based on the realities of living here rather than the idea of it.
The goal isn’t to convince you to move to Mérida. It’s to help you decide whether Mérida is right for you.

CO-FOUNDER • LIFE IN MÉRIDA™
My family moved to Mérida in 1993, when I was two years old, so this is the city where I grew up and the place I consider home.
My background is in food, hospitality, and customer service, which probably explains why so much of what I love about Mérida revolves around its people, culture, and food. I enjoy sharing the history behind the places we visit, introducing people to Yucatecan traditions, and helping newcomers understand some of the cultural differences they may not notice at first.
I joined Amy at Life in Mérida™ in 2022. Today, we work together on scouting trips, relocation services, and real estate—combining Amy’s experience of moving to Mexico with the local perspective I bring from growing up and living here.
Mérida is more than a place to live. Understanding the culture, the people, and the way things work here is an important part of deciding whether you can truly make it home.
